"When the PKIX Working Group was chartered, an object identifier arc was allocated by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) for use by that working group. These object identifiers are primarily used with Abstract Syntax Notation 1 (ASN.1). [...]
This document describes the object identifiers that were assigned in the PKIX arc, returns control of the PKIX arc to IANA, and establishes IANA allocation policies for any future assignments within the PKIX arc."
