Structure of code: Two fields
a. Place Code = four characters, derived from location name.
b. State/Province/Country code = two characters, derived from the location name.
Description of organizations covered by the coding system: Telecommunication administrations and public carriers.
Notes on use of the code: Codes for named populated places, geographic places, geopolitical places, outlaying areas, and other related entities of the state of the United States, provinces and territories of Canada, countries of the world, and other unique areas. Also for the identification of organizations, places, equipment and governmental entities by the telecommunication industry.
