Subsequent OIDs are used for translation between the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and sensor network management protocols: When a sensor network gateway translates sensor network management protocol message into an SNMP message, the sensor network gateway inserts a base OID in front of the OID of the Management Information Base (MIB).
